| Born in Birmingham UK and raised in the heart of the Black Country, Simon's early childhood was spent, as it is with most DJ's and Musicians - surrounded by the sounds of his parents record collection. From this developed a taste for a quite ridiculous array of music, and thusly a keen sense of the poetic power inflicted by playing the right record, at the right time.
Originally an accomplished swing and orchestral musician, Simon started experimenting with basic computer based music production around late 1998 and naturally found his calling in Birmingham’s underground dance scene at nights such as the famous Atomic Jam & House of God. Breeding a love for the raw energy and possibilities of the soul of the machine, he began DJ’ing Techno in his loft (fondly dubbed ‘the Lab’) and at as many parties that would accommodate him.
In 2003 Simon moved to Guildford to study at the Vestax DJ Academy, part of the Academy of Contemporary Music, where he excelled and received a distinction in Professional Music Production. This later led to a Batchelor of Science degree in Music Technology from Staffordshire University.
In the years since he has entertained crowds around the country with his trademark styles of groove-licked stomping Techno and heart-wrenching, ass-shaking soul at events such as Electric Monkey, Osmosis, Alternation, Subculture, warpandwoof and of course; his own club night - PhormAtion, along side top names such as london techno legend Mark Williams.
In 2006 Simon's debut single - "Unex" was released worldwide as part of the "xe:tech:no 001" EP. April 2008 saw the digital release of his first full-length production album "The Rainbow That Set The Sky On Fire". Simon is currently working on new production & remix material, whilst simultainiously running Xenophorm Studios in Birmingham and continuing to develop his own unique sonic imprint on the Xenophorm label and UK club scene. |
